description The aim of this article is to investigate the roles the school represents for students from a marginal neighborhood in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. Based on the "non-opposition between school-illegalisms", several student narratives collected during fieldwork between 2016 and 2019 were analyzed and expanded on. Two axes stand out in these narratives. Firstly, the school as a place that allows students to avoid the risks and dangers associated with the dynamics of illegality. And, secondly, the school as a means to enter the formal labor market away from the illegal economies. Evidencing the neuralgic role that the school represents for students who suffer from permanent school tension due to the dynamics assumed by illegal acts on contexts of urban poverty in the global South. Keywords: Young students, School, Illegalisms, Urban poverty, Educational research El presente artículo tiene como objetivo indagar los lugares que ocupa la escuela para estudiantes de un barrio marginal del conurbano bonaerense. A partir de la “no oposición entre escuela-ilegalismos”, analizamos y problematizamos una serie de relatos de estudiantes construidos durante el trabajo en terreno realizado entre 2016 y 2019. En estos se destacan dos ejes. En primer lugar, la escuela como lugar que permite a los estudiantes evitar los riesgos y peligros asociados a las dinámicas de los ilegalismos. Y, en segundo lugar, la escuela como medio para ingresar al mercado de trabajo formal alejados de las economías de los ilegalismos. Evidenciando el lugar neurálgico que ocupa la escuela para estudiantes quienes transitan su escolaridad en permanente tensión con las dinámicas que asumen los ilegalismos en contextos de pobreza urbana del sur global. Palabras clave: Jóvenes estudiantes, Escuela, Ilegalismos, Pobreza urbana, Investigación educativa Le présent article a comme objectif celui de mener une enquête sur les lieux qui occupe l’école pour des étudiants d’un quartier marginal de la banlieue bonairienne. À partir de la « non opposition entre école- illégalismes », nous analysons et problématisons une série de récits d’étudiants, construits pendant le travail sur le terrain réalisé entre 2016 et 2019 où on souligne deux axes. En premier lieu, l’école comme lieu qui permet aux étudiants d’éviter des risques et des dangers associés aux dynamiques des illégalismes, et en deuxième lieu, l’école comme moyen pour entrer dans le marché de travail formel éloigné des économies des illégalismes. En mettant en évidence, le lieu névralgique qui occupe l’école pour des étudiants qui transitent leur scolarité en tension permanente avec les dynamiques qui assument les illégalismes en contextes de pauvreté urbaine du sud global.
