Lactoferrin and its digestive peptides induce interferon-α production and activate plasmacytoid dendritic cells ex vivo

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) recognise viral single-stranded RNA (ssRNA) or CpG DNA via Toll-like receptor (TLR)-7 and TLR9, and produce interferon (IFN)-α.
