Sumario:In accordance with Article 43 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, EFSA received a mandate from the European Commission to perform a targeted risk assessment of maximum residue levels (MRLs) for nicotine in spices. EFSA performed the acute (short‐term) and chronic (long‐term) dietary risk assessment considering the nicotine exposure via residues in spices at the level equal to the temporary maximum residue level (tMRL) of 0.3 mg/kg as proposed by the European Commission based on the new monitoring data provided. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the tMRL for the group of spices of 0.3 mg/kg is unlikely to pose a risk to consumer health.
