In the title compound, C(12)H(16)N(6)O(2)·2H(2)O, the organic molecule, except for the methyl H atoms, is essentially planar, the r.m.s. deviation from planarity being 0.044 Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular O—H⋯O and O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds which form chains.
