3,6-Dimethyl-o-phenylenedimethanol
The title compound, C(10)H(14)O(2), synthesized by reduction of 4,7-dimethyl-2-benzofuran-1,3-dione, crystallizes with two independant molecules in the asymmetric unit, both showing an intramolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bond. The crystal packing is stabilized by O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
