Epidemiology of Diphyllobothrium nihonkaiense Diphyllobothriasis, Japan, 2001–2016

We report 958 cases of cestodiasis occurring in Japan during 2001–2016. The predominant pathogen was Diphyllobothrium nihonkaiense tapeworm (n = 825), which caused 86.1% of all cases.
