Generation and Applications of the Hydroxide Trihydrate Anion, [OH(OH(2))(3)](−), Stabilized by a Weakly Coordinating Cation

The reaction of a strongly basic phosphazene (Schwesinger base) with water afforded the corresponding metastable hydroxide trihydrate [OH(OH(2))(3)](−) salt.
