Emergency tracheostomy during COVID 19 pandemic in a head and neck surgical oncology unit

• Awake, emergency, intervention for an unsecured critical upper airway obstruction is a challenge. • Aerosolization and risk of COVID  of 19 transmission add to the already existing difficulty. • Adequate personal protection and  minimum aerosol generation are  the keys to the success.
