Sumario:This paper presents results from an ongoing ethnographic research project on the student protest movement “Fridays for Future”. The reconstructive analysis of data shows that, from the perspective of the protesting students, the elementary school (especially with a specific profile “outdoor school”, “climate school”) is of particular relevance for the establishment of climate-protective practices. Although a school-oppositional behavior cannot be identified, but the student protest movement rather considers the elementary school as an ’extended arm’ of the political agenda, they make use of subversive practices by selectively suspending the legal compulsory education. This article focuses on the neglected participation of elementary school students in protest practices from the perspective of young activists and examines how student protest relates to school.
