• Takotsubo broke-heart syndrome and neurogenic pulmonary edema should be considered as causes of SUDEP. • Each SUDEP case should undergo a thorough post-mortem work-up to eventually elucidate the cause of SUDEP. • Patients at risk of SUDEP should be carefully guided and monitored intra-vitam.
