Metformin induces insulin secretion by preserving pancreatic aquaporin 7 expression in type 2 diabetes mellitus
In the presence of metformin, the c‐Jun‐NH2‐terminal kinase and p38 pathways in β‐cells are inhibited, resulting in preserved aquaporin 7 expression and improved glycerol influx, thus maintaining insulin secretion.[Image: see text]
