Sumario:As in other countries, the pandemic has triggered a comprehensive real-world experiment in the Austrian school system, deepening existing inequalities and raising new issues. This article explores students’ perceptions and experiences of the prerequisites for good and inclusive (digital) learning conditions. The findings are based on a student survey conducted in 2020. It is argued, that challenges of learning during school closures and the needs and ideas for reforming the school system are both shaped by unequal social resources and capitals. The article shows how students’ desires for reforms in school and their class-specific learning strategies intertwine and explains why the classical digitalization program of equipping students with hardware and teaching digital skills reaches its limits when it comes to the question of which reforms in the school system are necessary to overcome inequalities.
